Every year, the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation awards up to fifteen doctoral scholarships to Canadian and foreign doctoral candidates pursuing research related to humanities and social sciences. The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation scholarships provide $40,000 per year for three years, $20,000 per year for three years (as research and travel allowance) and an opportunity for a fourth year.
2. Rotary Foundation Global Scholarship Grants for Development (Any Country)
The Rotary Foundation offers scholarship funding through the Rotary Foundation Global Grants. The scholarships funds graduate-level coursework or research for one to four academic years.
The minimum budget for a global grant scholarship is $30,000 which can fund passport/visa, inoculations, travel expenses, school supplies, tuition, room and board, household supplies, and language training courses.
3. Schwarzman Scholars Program at Tsinghua University (China)
Deadline: September 26th
Schwarzman Scholars is the first scholarship created to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st Century. The program will give the world’s best and brightest students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and professional networks through a one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.
The selected students will receive a comprehensive scholarship that will include tuition and fees, room and board, travel expenses, books and supplies, health insurance, and a personal stipend of $4,000.
4. Clarendon Fund Scholarships at University of Oxford (UK)
Deadline: January 25th
The Clarendon Fund is a major graduate scholarship scheme at the University of Oxford, offering around 140 new scholarships every year. Clarendon Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and potential across all degree-bearing subjects at the graduate level at the University of Oxford.
All Clarendon Scholarships cover tuition and college fees in full. Scholars on a full-time course receive a generous annual grant for living costs which worth up to £14,777. Scholars on a part-time course receive a study support grant to help cover their non-fee costs.
5. Gates Cambridge Scholarships for International Students (UK)
Deadline: December 5th
Gates Cambridge Scholarships are one of the most prestigious international scholarships in the world. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.
The scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge including tuition fees, maintenance allowance, travel costs, etc. It also provides additional, discretionary funding such as academic development funding, family allowance, fieldwork, etc.
6. Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Students (Switzerland)
Every year, the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. The research scholarship is available to post-graduate researchers in any discipline plan to pursue research or further studies at the doctoral or post-doctoral level in Switzerland.
The scholarship covers a monthly payment, exemption of tuition fees, health insurance, airfare, housing allowance, etc.
7. Eiffel Scholarships in France for International Students (France)
Deadline: January 11th
The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program was established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to enable French higher education institutions to attract top foreign students to enroll in their masters and Ph.D. programs.
For Master’s level studies, the Eiffel scholarship includes a monthly allowance of €1,181, awarded for 12-36 months. For Ph.D. level studies, the Eiffel scholarship includes a monthly allowance of €1,400 and is awarded for a maximum of 12 months.
In addition, the program meets various expenses including international return trip, national and local transport, health insurance, and cultural activities.
8. Endeavour Postgraduate Leadership Award (Australia)
Deadline: November 15th
The Endeavour Postgraduate Leadership Award provides financial support for international applicants to undertake a postgraduate qualification at a Masters or Ph.D. level either by coursework or research in any field in Australia for up to 2 years for Masters and 4 years for Ph.D.
All successful Individual short and long term Endeavour Leaders will receive AU$3,000 per month as a stipend, travel allowance of up to AU$3,000, establishment allowance of between AU$2,000 and AU$4,000, health insurance, and travel insurance.
9. British Chevening Scholarships for International Students
Deadline: November 6th
Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship program, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organizations. The program offers awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study for a master’s degree in any subject at any UK university.
The scholarship usually covers university tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, an economy class return airfare to the UK, and additional grants and allowances to cover essential expenditure.
10. Fulbright Foreign Student Program (USA)
Deadline: October 31st
The Fulbright Foreign Student Program enables graduate students, young professionals, and artists, from abroad to study and conduct research in the United States at U.S. universities or other academic institutions. The grant funds tuition, airfare, a living stipend, and health insurance, etc. for the duration of the study.
