NEDC EEF Scholarship for Students 2023 Application Update
The NEDC EEF Scholarship, supported entirely by the North-East Development Commission – Education Endowment Fund (NEDC-EEF), is currently open for applications from eligible students.
The NEDC EEF Scholarship
The purpose of the North-East Development Commission – Education Endowment Fund (NEDC-EEF) is to tackle the unfavorable human development indicators, prevalent illiteracy, and significant poverty rates in the North-East region.
The overall goal of the Fund is to foster the growth of human resources to enable the region to possess the necessary skills and abilities for the development of infrastructure and socio-economic progress.
The specific objectives of the NEDC-EEF are derived from the overarching goal of the Fund, which include the development of a well-equipped workforce to support a modern North East economy in the 21st century.

The primary objective of the Fund is to cultivate an ample pool of human resources to ensure the NE region possesses the necessary capabilities for the advancement of infrastructure and socio-economic growth.

Requirements for NEDC EEF Scholarship
Scholarships will be granted based on the following criteria to ensure fairness across all communities, promote gender equity, and foster the development of human capital conducive to socio-economic growth in the NE Region with a focus on Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) knowledge-driven development:
1. Undergraduate Scholarships: Full sponsorship will be provided to candidates from each of the six states in the North East.
Eligible candidates should be enrolled in relevant programs at Nigerian universities. The selection of beneficiaries may consider a ratio of 70:30 for science to arts disciplines and 60:40 for male to female representation.
2. Master’s Degree Scholarships: A two-year training opportunity will be offered to candidates from each state in the North East Region.
Beneficiaries can pursue studies in demand-driven programs either in Nigeria or abroad.
3. Doctoral Degree Scholarships: Candidates from each state in the North East will receive three years of sponsorship for their doctoral studies.
Beneficiaries can pursue specialized training at reputable universities in Nigeria or abroad, focusing on relevant areas of study.
