University of Bonn Argelander Scholarships is currently open for applications from suitably qualified students. The scholarship is fully funded for all students and is sponsored by the University of Bonn.

The University of Bonn Argelander Scholarships

Established in 1818, the University of Bonn is considered to be one of the prominent higher education institutions in Germany, attracting over 38,000 students from various parts of the world.

Benefits of University of Bonn Argelander Scholarships

A sum of money allocated for travel expenses, the amount of which may vary depending on the individual’s country of origin.

The scholarship provides a monthly stipend of €1,500 to the recipient. If the recipient has accompanying family members, additional funds of up to €300 for a spouse and €250 per child may also be granted.

The scholarship includes a research expense allowance of up to €300 per month, which can be claimed by the recipient after being awarded the scholarship.

Details on how to apply for the allowance will be provided along with the scholarship award. The allowance can be submitted to the International Office.

Requirements for Argelander Scholarships

The scholarship is open to international candidates who are enrolled in a doctoral program at a university or research institute in Africa, Latin America, or Asia.

Individuals who are currently pursuing a Ph.D. program at the University of Bonn are not eligible for the scholarship.

The funding recipients are expected to complete their doctoral studies at their home university.

Documents Required for Application

1. An online form.

2. Description of Project (PDF of max. 8 pages), consisting of:

a). A summary or description of the research project that the individual will be working on during their time in Bonn.

b). The justifications for the host to extend an invitation to the doctoral candidate.

3. A description of how the doctoral candidate will be incorporated into the host institute, including their role in teaching and research activities, as well as the place where they will work. The outline should also detail how the research project will be supervised while the individual is in Bonn.

4. Curriculum Vitae and a motivational letter of the doctoral candidate.

5. Financing plan.
