Robert Wadlow of the United States, who lived from 1918 to 1940, holds the title of being the tallest person ever.
Robert, who was born on February 22, 1918, in Alton, Illinois, the United States, rose to extraordinary heights from an early age.

By the time he was eight years old, he was taller than his father, and an extra desk was created for him in the first grade.

With an official height of 8 feet 9 inches, he was identified as the tallest person ever measured shortly after turning 21.

He actually grew taller right up until his death, reaching a stunning max daily caloric intake of 8,000 calories.
Since then, advances in medical science and treatment have allowed pituitary gigantism patients, like Sultan Kösen, the tallest man alive as of 2017, to have surgery to stop the release of growth hormone.
Robert had trouble moving about due to his illness; he used a walking stick and leg braces but never a wheelchair.

Following his 1936 tour of the United States with the Ringling Brothers Circus,
During which he performed in the center ring at Madison Square Garden and the Boston Garden, Wadlow rose to fame (never in the sideshow).
He rebuffed the circus’s suggestion that he don a top hat and tails while making appearances, instead choosing to wear his regular attire.
He started a commercial tour with the International Shoe Company in 1938 and received free shoes in exchange for wearing only his regular street clothes.

Wadlow did not see himself as a freak show; rather, he worked in advertising. Up until a few days before his death, he was very physically strong.
Wadlow was a member of the Masonic-sponsored Order of DeMolay, a group for young men, and he eventually became a Freemason.
Wadlow had attained Master Mason status by November 1939 under the control of the Grand Lodge of Illinois A.F. and A.M.
Robert Wadlow Death
A defective brace caused irritation to his ankle on July 4, 1940, while he was performing professionally at the Manistee National Forest Festival, which resulted in infection.
He underwent surgery and a blood transfusion after being diagnosed, but because of an autoimmune illness, his condition worsened, and on July 15 he passed away in his sleep.
He passed away at 1:30 a.m. on July 15, 1940, in a hotel in Manistee, Michigan.

Robert tragically passed away at the young age of 22 because of his legs.
His last words, which were in reference to his paternal grandparents’ golden wedding, were, “The doctor says I won’t be home for the…celebrations.”
The Alton Giant was later laid to rest in a gigantic casket that was 3.28 m (10 ft 9 in) long, 81 cm (32 in) broad, and 76 cm (30 in) deep in Oakwood Cemetery in Alton.
