What made you decide to pick up a career as a security analyst?

I have always been quite intrigued about systems security, and this intrigue led to me training in the area. Taking up a career in this field was the natural choice.

As a security analyst, what was the essence of your job in a previous organization?

I am presently working as a security analyst at Hub and Co. where my main work is to check all types of systems to see if there is lack of security, and then to provide insight into how it can be tightened.

Creating , developing and implementing core security systems to ensure that systems are not prone to external or internal threats, and making sure that additional or dynamic security needs of the organization are fulfilled in an immediate manner, have all been part of my work.

What is the one skill that you depend on greatly to perform your work?

It is a bare necessity for all security analysts to possess an analytic thought process, which is a skill that I possess, and depend highly on when performing my work.

Tell us of your most challenging task till now.

Challenges are an everyday thing for people working as security analysts. However, I was presented with a perplexing situation some months ago. The management identified a security breach which led to leaked company information.

After thorough audits, we discovered that there were actually no leaks at all. It took some time to figure out that an employee was leaking confidential information to the competition. It was a difficult case, but we got to the bottom of it.

How do you handle the stress associated with this work?

I am in perfect harmony with any stress that may be thrown at me, because it just means that the challenge got bigger. And I love challenges.

If there was one thing that you could change in the security system of your current workplace, what would it be?

I would place great emphasis on internal threats, as I believe that’s where the main problem usually is.
