I am not comfortable giving a public speech, so knowing that this was a problem, I enrolled in a speech workshop. I overcame my fear.”

7. What Salary Are You Looking for?

Avoid giving an exact number. Instead, emphasise your commitment to the job; “I am more interested in my role in the industry, so I would expect to be paid the amount for this role”.

8. Why Should I Hire You?

Emphasise your qualifications and show what makes you unique; “I have been a medical secretary for the past eight years.

My boss complimented me that without me, the clinic would fall apart. I can handle both my work and some of my boss’ work”.

9. What is Your Greatest Failure and What Did You Learn from it?

Focus on a significant mishap and how it has made you improve; “I took an art class in college to supplement my curriculum. I didn’t take it seriously and thought that it would be a walkover compared to my biology classes.

My failing grades showed I thought wrong; it would even threaten my scholarship status. I knew I had to improve, so I spent the rest of my semesters making up for it.

I learned that in all I am doing, I should try to make the best out of it or else it wasn’t worth doing at all.

This question gives you the opportunity to share your interests and proves that you are enthusiastic about your job; I love to interact with people. They always satisfied me when interacting with patients, meeting their needs.

Thinking of something you disliked in the previous job that you know will not be a part of the new one; “I did not hate my previous job, but there were some things I liked less than others.

My previous job involved lots of travelling, which sometimes was a little exhausting, and I did not like spending much time out of the clinic. I am glad this new role does not involve much travelling.

13. Describe a Time You did not Get Along with Your Co-workers?

Think of a significant instance but portray it as a positive experience; I wasn’t getting along with the nurse, so one day; I asked her to lunch, where we discussed our differences and it turned out all we needed was communication.

I believe that communicating your differences with someone can help solve any issue”.

14. What Motivates You?

This question requires you to highlight your positive attributes to give the interviewer some insight into your character; “In my last job, I was responsible for the proper and efficient assessment of incoming patients. As it stands, I am up for any challenge.”
